Not the role for you?

Do you wish to work in close partnership with a senior management team who possesses a wealth of experience within the scientific industry and are recognised for their significant commercial and technical contribution to the sector?

If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to join an industry-leading provider of high-quality Spectroscopy Equipment with systems for both academic and industrial purposes.

This industry leader has seen over 30% growth and now wishes to further bolster its UK sales team.

As an investor in staff, they provide the one-to-one support and training needed to progress a long-term career within their organisation.

With further expansion in Europe, my client wishes to add value to its team by recruiting a Technical Sales Manager / Senior Sales Engineer to focus on their range of high-specification spectrometers.

Recognised for service delivery and offering some of the industry’s most advanced equipment, they pride themselves on their detailed attention to customers’ needs and dedication to the highest standards of performance and quality.

  • £50K – £80K Basic (starting salary depends on experience)
  • Bonus (OTE £100K – £135K)
  • Hybrid Company Car
  • Company Expense Card
  • 8% Pension
  • BUPA Healthcare (after the qualifying period)
  • 25 Days Holiday + Public Holidays
  • Fantastic sales and technical training program

Following the completion of your training and induction, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating from a home office and covering the UK with some European travel, with approximately 3 days per week on the road with clients.
  • Developing sales of my client’s Spectrometers (value from £300K to £5m) within the Academia and Industrial markets.
  • Operating in a mixed new business and account management role.
  • Selling in at Lab Manager, Technical Director, Head of Department and Purchasing level.
  • Generating and attending both face-to-face and virtual meetings.
  • Lead generation, qualifying and responding to incoming inquiries, conducting client presentations and product demonstrations, producing quotations and closing the sale.
  • Working on annual sales objectives and targets.
  • Developing lasting relationships with customers.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum degree level education within a hard science discipline such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biological Sciences, or Material Science.  A Master’s or PhD would be highly advantageous but not essential, as emotional intelligence to understand the customer is more important.

Coupled with the above, candidates will possess proven experience selling complex scientific instruments/equipment this could include but is not limited to Microscopes, Electron Microscopes, and Spectrometers.

Other key skills required include:

  • Self-motivation with the inner drive to be successful.
  • Comfortable communicating at all levels.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Resourceful with the ability to generate client appointments.
  • The right to work in the UK.  (My client doesn’t offer sponsorship)

Team player with a willingness to learn.
