About The Role
As a standalone HR Business Partner, you will report to a local Director and with the support of their International HR team, you will personally operate in a hands-on HR Generalist capacity, providing day-to-day frontline HR support to 55 local employees, growing to 70 employees by the end of 2026.
Other duties will include:
- Developing a culture change within the local business in relation to HR.
- Understanding some managers may have limited knowledge and training in HR, whilst others may be resistant to change.
- Supporting and coaching the leadership team with employee challenges to ensure the best outcome.
- Assisting managers with the recruitment process from onsite candidate interviews to issuing contract paperwork.
- Planning and delivering new starter inductions and onboarding as necessary.
- Managing employee records and systems.
- Absence management including monitoring sickness and conducting return to work interviews.
- Driving employee relations and staff engagement and retention.
- Conducting investigations and disciplinaries alongside the management team.
- Employee management, including maintaining new starters, leavers, salary and ad-hoc changes on SAP and other business systems.
- Conducting exit interviews and ensuring that all leaver paperwork is completed and company property returned.
- Completing any necessary HR reports for the senior leadership team.
- First point of contact for auditors, employee reference requests etc.
- Supporting with local in country HR projects (digitisation etc).
About You
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 4+ years of HR experience working within a unionised environment and have a knowledge of Italian legislation. This will ideally be gained in a production, manufacturing or similar business with blue-collar employees. My client isn’t interested in HR professionals who have only overseen white-collar employees or only gained experience in the public sector.
You must be comfortable operating in a standalone hands-on generalist HR role.

- Ability to take ownership of issues and handle them to a satisfactory outcome.
- Natural ability to influence, demonstrating advantages and benefits of doing things in a certain way.
- Gaining buy in to ideas and proposed solutions.
- Strong ability to organise and prioritise workload.
- Methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Fantastic skills in coaching, mentoring and guiding a leadership team in all areas of HR.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
- An enthusiastic and professional communicator.
- Self-motivated and approachable personality with the ability to take ownership of site HR.
- Comfortable evolving and modernising local HR structure.
- Able to see things from both an employee and also business perspective, ensuring solutions satisfy employees but also ensures the business remains functional.
