With further expansion in the UK, my client wishes to add value to its Northern sales team by recruiting a Technical Sales Manager / Sales Engineer to focus on developing sales of their SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopes) across the North.
Recognised for service delivery and offering some of the industry’s most advanced benchtop and floor-standing equipment, they pride themselves on their detailed attention to customers’ needs and dedication to the highest standards of performance and quality.
About The Role
Following the completion of your training and induction, you will be responsible for:
- Operating from a home office and covering the North of the UK, with approximately 3 days per week on the road with clients.
- Developing sales of my client’s SEM systems (typical value from £60K-£160K) within the Academia (10-20%) and Industrial (80-90%) markets.
- Operating in a mixed new business (70-80%) and account management role (20-30%).
- Selling in at Lab Manager, Technical Director and Purchasing level.
- Generating and attending both face-to-face and virtual meetings.
- Lead generation, qualifying and responding to incoming inquiries (10-20 per month), conducting client presentations and product demonstrations (alongside an Applications Engineer), producing quotations and closing the sale.
- Working to annual sales objectives and targets.
- Developing lasting relationships with customers.
About You
The successful candidate will possess a 1st class degree within a scientific field, Masters or PhD.
Coupled with the above education, candidates will possess proven experience selling complex scientific instruments/equipment this could include but is not limited to Microscopes, Lasers, CT Camera, SEM, TEM, XRF, MicroCT, Electron Microscopy, 3D Imaging, Optical Microscopes, Laser Deposition, Photonics, Sample Preparation, Electron Microscopes, Spectrometers, Nano positioning, X-Ray Systems, Particle Accelerators, Particle Analysis or Sample Preparation (sputter coaters) equipment.
My client is also willing to consider candidates wishing to move into their first Technical Sales role should they hold a Masters or PhD and have hands-on experience using SEMs (Scanning Electron Microscopes) as part of their study or employment.
Other key skills required include:
- Self-motivation with the drive to be successful.
- Comfortable communicating at all levels including Lab Manager, Technical Manager, and Purchasing.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Resourceful with the ability to generate client appointments.
- The right to work in the UK. (My client doesn’t offer sponsorship)
