POSITION
Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for:
- Developing and performance managing a team of direct and indirect reports including Team Leaders, Operators, Planners and Warehouse personnel.
- Addressing poor performance in a timely and effective manner.
- Managing all aspects of the production process including the organisation and supervision of labour.
- Ensuring that manufacturing resources operate safely, legally and at optimum efficiency in terms of cost, quality and output.
- Monitoring and developing production processes to achieve optimum performance from the plant.
- Working with the Engineering team to minimise the time lost through equipment breakdowns.
- Managing, motivating and developing the team to achieve their personal development plans.
- Supporting the Plant Manager with a move towards a 24/7 production environment including the restructuring of the shift pattern.
- Monitoring and controlling the costs of manufacturing consumables.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction KPI’s are delivered to at least cost.
- Investigating H&S incidents, near misses and accidents.
- Delivering to site KPI’s including process efficiency, OTIF, cost per unit, energy usage, customer complaints etc.
- Promoting good site morale and team working.
- Continually monitoring levels of absence and addressing problems as necessary.
- Ensuring production meets quality standard and complies with all site protocols and legal requirements.
- Supporting the Plant Manager to ensure production costs are maintained within budget.
- Driving a safety first culture across the business.
PERSON
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you MUST:-
- Possess a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a Production Manager within a manufacturing business. (any sector)
- Possess a hands on approach to management.
- Have excellent people management, time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes.
- Be able to demonstrate the measurable improvements you have had on previous/current sites.
- Have past experience delivering to KPI’s.
- Understand Lean Manufacturing techniques and be driven by continuous improvement.
- Hold a minimum of an IOSH Health & Safety qualification (beneficial).
