About The Role
As the Global Category Manager, you will be responsible for a category spend of approximately €25m (injection moulding raw materials) across over 20 international manufacturing sites.
Other responsibilities include:
- Driving procurement saving, working toward reduction objectives.
- Stakeholder approval and implementation of category strategies.
- Negotiating improved payment terms to enhance working capital.
- Ensuring technical compliance of suppliers by working closely with technical stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing global category strategies and supporting the development of sub-strategies at a local level.
- Supplier relationship management.
- Working with R&D to look at product specifications changes that will reduce materials costs.
- Implementing, reviewing and auditing supplier performance and addressing any concerns.
- Identifying and analysing new suppliers in the Asia Pacific region. (will include travel to Asia when necessary).
- Improve procurement productivity and performance.
About You
You must have proven success within a global strategic procurement / purchasing / category management position within the Engineering / Manufacturing sector and possess a background or understanding of plastic injection moulding or plastic extrusion.
An Engineering education would be highly beneficial but not essential.
Other key skills include:
- A willingness to travel internationally (40-60%)
- Intelligent with a commitment to learn.
- A drive for continuous improvement.
- Ability to demonstrate the global savings achieved and process improvements made.
- Articulate communicator and influencer.
- Highly motivated.
- Resilient and assertive in nature.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Comfortable utilising ERP systems such as SAP
