The Brief
We were approached by a UK-based manufacturer of HVAC systems to recruit a National Sales Manager. The client had been trying to fill the role internally but was only attracting candidates from general construction backgrounds, rather than individuals with in-depth knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air handling solutions. With major framework agreements coming up for renewal, they needed a credible technical sales lead in place quickly.
The Process
We arranged a briefing with the Sales Director to clarify the ideal profile, which included experience selling into M&E contractors, consultants, and facilities management companies. Knowledge of AHUs, chillers, and packaged HVAC systems was essential.
Our headhunt targeted professionals from HVAC OEMs and distributors, as well as salespeople already managing complex project sales within the built environment. We assessed candidates for technical competence, account management skills, and experience handling project-based specifications.
A shortlist of four well-qualified individuals was delivered for interview.
The Result
The client successfully hired a National Sales Manager with a proven track record in HVAC solutions and strong existing relationships with key contractors. The full recruitment process was completed in three weeks.
