Field Application Engineer – Power Electronics

Table of Contents

The Brief

A global manufacturer of power conversion and semiconductor solutions contacted us to recruit a Field Application Engineer for Switzerland. The company had been struggling to attract candidates who combined strong technical understanding with customer-facing experience. Many applicants came from pure R&D backgrounds and lacked the ability to bridge the gap between engineering and commercial teams. With major design-in projects underway, the business urgently needed an FAE capable of supporting key OEM customers and accelerating product integration.

The Process

We held a detailed briefing with the European Technical Director to define the required profile — a degree-qualified electrical engineer with experience in DC/DC converters, IGBTs, and power management systems, plus fluency in both German and English.

Our headhunt focused on FAEs and Application Engineers working with power electronics manufacturers or component distributors across Switzerland and Southern Germany. To ensure technical depth, we conducted competency-based assessments, focusing on circuit-level understanding, customer communication, and problem-solving in the field.

Within a week, we submitted a shortlist of four technically strong professionals, each capable of delivering immediate design-in support.

The Result

The client appointed an experienced Field Application Engineer with a background in both semiconductor applications and customer project management. Their ability to act as a technical liaison between engineering teams and end customers allowed them to quickly reduce design cycle times and strengthen customer satisfaction. The process, from launch to signed offer, was completed in 23 working days.

What the Client had to Say

“Mase delivered technically credible candidates who could hit the ground running. Their assessment process gave us total confidence in our choice.”
