The Brief
We were approached by a German-based conveyor manufacturer to support them with the recruitment of a Field Service Engineer. They had initially partnered with another recruitment agency but were disappointed with the poor quality of candidates and lack of industry understanding. Given our previous success with similar technical roles, the client decided to give us the opportunity to deliver where others had fallen short.
The Process
After a detailed consultation with the service manager and HR team, we built a clear picture of the ideal candidate – someone with strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, experience in heavy-duty conveyor systems, and flexibility to travel across Germany and surrounding regions.
We launched a dual approach: a targeted headhunting campaign alongside a carefully worded advertising strategy designed to attract passive candidates. We mapped out competitors and related industries, identifying engineers with relevant field service experience and the right personality fit for a customer-facing role.
We spent time positioning the opportunity to highlight the company’s commitment to training, modern equipment, and excellent engineering support, all key factors in engaging high performers candidates. Within 6 working days, we submitted a shortlist of five high-performing professionals. We arranged interviews, managed expectations throughout, and supported both client and candidate through to final offer.
The Result
Thanks to our focused approach and sector expertise, the client successfully hired a standout Field Service Engineer who brought not only the right technical skill set but also the flexibility and attitude required for the role. From initial briefing to signed offer, the full process took just 19 working days.
